Deadlines soon for internal funding competitions
Deadlines are approaching for several internal funding opportunities this fall.
Proposals should be submitted through NUgrant’s Internal Funding module unless otherwise noted in the request for proposals. Application instructions and details for each competition are available on the Internal Funding Opportunities website, which provides links to each competition’s request for proposals.
Research Council Awards: Proposals are due by 5 p.m. Oct. 9. for Grants-in-Aid; Faculty Seed Grants; Interdisciplinary Awards; Visiting Scholar, Distinguished Lecturer and Symposia Awards.
Arts and Humanities Research Enhancement Program: Proposals are due by 5 p.m. Nov. 13. This program provides seed money to foster research, scholarship and creative activity in the arts and humanities to enhance academic excellence in these disciplines and to increase UNL’s competitiveness for external grants.
Layman Awards: Proposals are due by 5 p.m. Nov. 13. Layman Awards fund projects to enhance a recipient’s ability to obtain external funding to support prominent scholarly work. There are two programs: the Layman Seed Program funds new projects by pre-tenure faculty; the New Directions Program funds tenured faculty who are re-entering research or branching into new directions.
Pathway to Interdisciplinary Research Centers: Dec. 11 is the next application deadline for Phase I planning grants. Phase II and III proposals are accepted on an ongoing basis after consulting with the Office of Research and Economic Development. This competitive grant program aims to foster and support interdisciplinary research teams and enhance their competitiveness for large-scale or center grants.
