{"id":1531,"date":"2021-04-30T21:16:03","date_gmt":"2021-04-30T21:16:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.unl.edu\/researchcompliance\/?page_id=1531"},"modified":"2025-09-01T14:17:55","modified_gmt":"2025-09-01T14:17:55","slug":"research-data-security-required-training","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/research.unl.edu\/researchcompliance\/research-data-security-required-training\/","title":{"rendered":"Research Data &amp; Security Required Training"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\">In accordance with the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bidenwhitehouse.archives.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/010422-NSPM-33-Implementation-Guidance.pdf\"><strong>National Security Presidential Memo-33 (NSPM-33)<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0 all federal research funding agencies must improve and safeguard the research enterprise for research security. UNL and other institutions receiving over $50M in research funding must have a Research Security Program, which includes required training on several topics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>OR&amp;I and RCIS have evaluated the available trainings both federally and internally while focusing on a couple of key items: reducing burden\/confusion in various training needs and providing the best possible training for our campus. With this in mind, we have decided on a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/research.unl.edu\/researchcompliance\/rcr-education-training\/\">Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) for All,<\/a>\u201d approach.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Required Research Security Training<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>UNL requires<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>all research personnel<\/strong> <strong>(faculty, staff, and graduate students) <\/strong>to complete UNL\u2019s customized responsible conduct of research online training, which includes training on research security. &nbsp;This mandatory training is necessary to satisfy multiple federal requirements that are intended to educate on research integrity standards and safeguard the academic research enterprise against the misappropriation of U.S. research and development through inclusion of research security training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\">The UNL RCR training is available in <a href=\"https:\/\/nebraska.bridgeapp.com\/learner\/courses\">Bridge<\/a>. Research personnel are required to complete a comprehensive RCR training every 4 years (approx. 1 hour for time completion) along with a brief refresher (approx. 15 mins for time completion) annually.
