With millions of dollars of external research funding under his belt since joining the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2001 \u2013 including $23 million in NIH funding to establish and continue an obesity research center \u2013 Janos Zempleni is no stranger to successful grantsmanship.<\/p>\n
Zempleni, a Willa Cather Professor of molecular nutrition and head of the Nebraska Center for the Prevention of Obesity Diseases through Dietary Molecules, says behind-the-scenes support from UNL\u2019s Office of Proposal Development (OPD) has been critical to that success.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey were instrumental in getting the center grant,\u201d he says. \u201cThey kept the project leaders on track and consolidated all of the pieces into one coherent grant application.\u201d<\/p>\n
Before joining UNL, Zempleni held academic posts at institutions in the United States, Austria and Germany. None of them, he says, offered research support rivaling OPD\u2019s top-flight services, which he praised as prompt, thorough and high quality.<\/p>\n
