Upon first arriving at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln as a newly appointed assistant professor, Maital Neta admits that she was na\u00efve to the proposal development process.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the beginning, I was really trying to understand what is required of a grant proposal,\u201d says Neta. \u201cThe first time you ever do this kind of thing, it\u2019s kind of overwhelming.\u201d<\/p>\n
Unsure of how or where to start, Neta sought guidance from the Office of Proposal Development (OPD) and discovered a wealth of valuable resources and services, ranging from information on funding mechanisms and grant writing basics to proposal-specific recommendations from OPD staff and external experts.<\/p>\n
These resources, says Neta, were instrumental in helping her secure a National Institutes of Health R01 grant and a National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) award within her first five years at UNL.<\/p>\n
\u201cI had never submitted a grant before I arrived on this campus, so I think that just says a lot,\u201d says Neta. \u201cThey (OPD staff) make it possible and manageable to put together grants and get them funded.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
