This policy is outlined in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nebraska.edu\/-\/media\/unca\/docs\/offices-and-policies\/policies\/executive-memorandum\/policy-on-records-requests-and-contacts-by-law-enforcement.pdf\">EM 43<\/a>.<br><br>It is the University\u2019s longstanding policy to require a subpoena, search warrant, or other court order to release University records or information derived from University records to law enforcement entities. The only exceptions are when law enforcement has a signed consent by the individual to release information and for student or employee public directory information. The list of public directory information is in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nebraska.edu\/-\/media\/unca\/docs\/offices-and-policies\/policies\/board-governing-documents\/board-of-regents-policies.pdf\">Board of Regents Policy 5.10<\/a>.<br><br>If you are contacted by law enforcement in person or by phone for&nbsp;<em>public directory information<\/em>&nbsp;about a student or University personnel, please contact Bren Chambers, Interim Vice President and General Counsel at 402-450-6014.<br><br>If you are contacted by law enforcement in person or by phone for non-public&nbsp;<em>non-directory information<\/em>&nbsp;about a student or University personnel:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Confirm with the investigative agent that the University may only release such information in response to a subpoena, search warrant, or court order.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ask to see the agent\u2019s credentials and make a copy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are contacted by an investigative agent delivering a subpoena, search warrant, or court order, inform the agent that you need to contact the University\u2019s General Counsel\u2019s Office for assistance, and contact Bren Chambers immediately. class=\"wp-block-heading\">And the Innovation Award goes to&#8230;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>On Tuesday, April 30, FOCUS received a <a href=\"https:\/\/research.unl.edu\/blog\/husker-research-staffers-part-of-team-receiving-nordp-innovation-award-honors\/\">2025 Innovation Award from the National Organization of Research Development Professionals<\/a> (NORDP). NORDP\u2019s Innovation Award recognizes research development professionals for leveraging unique skills or resources to kick-start innovation in research development in ways that generate evidence of promise or demonstrable results.<br><br>It is the second time Nebraska\u2019s Research Development group has received the award. UNL\u2019s National Science Foundation CAREER Club&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/research.unl.edu\/blog\/proposal-development-team-wins-national-honors-for-its-nsf-career-club\/\">won the award in 2023<\/a>.<br><br>R&amp;I staff on the FOCUS team include <strong>Heather Borck<\/strong>, research development program coordinator; <strong>Matthew Dwyer<\/strong>, partnerships and programs lead; <strong>Jackson Hardin<\/strong>, funding opportunity coordinator; <strong>Nathan Meier<\/strong>, associate vice chancellor for research, capacity and competitiveness; and <strong>Tisha Gilreath
