Four senators were elected in fall 2022 to represent the Research district, which includes ORED, the University of Nebraska Press, the University of Nebraska State Museum, MERC, and several research centers.

District 7 representatives and their standing committee assignments are:

Kate Carlin, grants coordinator, Office of Sponsored Programs, Communications committee.

Jennifer Rutt, associate director, Methodology and Evaluation Research Core Facility, Personnel Affairs committee (chair).

Heather Stauffer, associate acquisitions editor, Press, Personnel Affairs committee.

Ashley Washburn, director of research communications, ORED, Legislation committee.

Senators participated in a training session in January, and the Senate convened for the first time on March 9. Full Senate meetings will occur bimonthly. Standing committees meet regularly to develop a vision and plans for bringing issues to the full Senate for consideration. As the Senate’s charge is solidified over the coming months, District 7 senators will provide further communication on Senate activities and solicit feedback and discussion with constituents.
