Join us for live bluegrass music by the Shucks Brothers<\/a> on Wednesday, October 12 at Nebraska Innovation Campus!
Steve Hanson, Dave Miller and Jim Pipher are the Shucks Brothers. The Shucks shows involve some serious string tickling and great harmony vocals. They tip their hats to the great old bluegrass masters such as Bill Monroe and the Stanley Brothers, but they also feature country, swing and red hot instrumentals. These guys have been playing professionally since they were young pups yet they still manage to surprise each other and their audiences with dazzling improvisation, silly humor and a whole lot of fun.

After working in University International Education & Services for 7 years, Chyvonne transitioned into University Export Compliance 3 years ago, and is currently the Export Control Manager for Research Compliance Services here at UNL. Chyvonne is excited about joining the Research Compliance Services team, supporting the Export Control Compliance Program, and collaborating with the UNL research community. Her passion includes international travel and culture, having recently spent the month of August in Peru learning about Peruvian cuisine and history. She also enjoys reading; her favorite genre is historical fiction. Nick Glass, Research Building Systems Lead Technician, Vice Chancellor Office – started on September 9<\/strong>
Nick is working a new area for us as part of a partnership between ORED and Facilities. Nick will be spending much time and effort focusing on interdisciplinary research spaces and ensuring the facilities and the equipment are optimally operating. Nick will office in facilities for much of his time and will spend a few days a week in Canfield. Originally, Nick started at the University 3.5 years ago as a structural technician for the BSM small improvement projects team. Shortly after, he was asked to help assist with Covid-19 throughout campus from the facilities side of things and has done so for the last two plus years. When he is not at work he likes to spend time tinkering in the garage or doing just about anything outside with his wife and dog, although, this will change very soon as their first child is due any day now. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/research.unl.edu\/open\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Shiloh-Heuertz.jpg\")

I was born and raised here in Lincoln, NE. Animals have always been a big part of my life. From practically growing up in the vet clinic my mom worked at, to having 5 cats and 2 dogs, and to working at a horse boarding facility and another vet clinic- I have been surrounded by creatures of all kinds for as long as I can remember. I recently graduated from UNL with a bachelors in Animal Science and am excited to continue my forever lasting journey of learning! Susan Wesely is the new administrative associate with the Nebraska Center for Energy Sciences Research (NCESR). She starts in her new position on September 30, 2022. In this role, Susan will provide general office support to faculty, staff, and external partners of the NCESR. She will assist with monitoring Energy Center funded projects, maintaining the website, recording project reporting information, tracking publications and citations related to Energy Center funding, and assisting with newsletters, meetings and events. Susan came to the Energy Center from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, where she was an office manager for several public health programs. Susan grew up on a farm in Saunders County. She has an Office Professional Associates degree from Southeast Community College in Lincoln. She is a proud parent of 4 children – Brieanna 22, Nathan 18, Tyler 18, and Wyatt 18 (triplet boys). In her spare time, she enjoys going for walks, working on mind puzzles, reading books, journal writing, container gardening, and she will have 3 dogs and 2 cats in her new household. B is for Barriers<\/a> invites participants to think about how their websites and electronic documents may exclude individuals with disabilities from accessing the content. Participants do not need a web design background or advanced software skills to benefit from this training and is open to all members of the campus community. Members of the IACP team were on hand to oversee the care and handling protocol for the Bald Eagle “Freedom” on the side lines at the Georgia Southern vs. Nebraska Huskers football game. The Handler Steve Hein, met with the team right after accompanying the honor guard onto the field for the National Anthem. Hein was extremely grateful for the IACP teams expedited review of the required permits and approval needed for Freedom to travel with the team to Lincoln.
