Participants will learn how to best position themselves to pursue a fellowship to support their research, scholarship, or creative endeavors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An external, project-based fellowship is a competitive award funded by an organization outside the university that supports an individual to carry out a defined research, scholarly, or creative project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:26px\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Examples of External Fellowships:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-unl-bg-darkest-gray-color has-text-color\" style=\"font-size:16px\"><em>Note: The fellowships listed below are examples that would align with the content covered in this program; faculty are welcome to explore other opportunities beyond this list. These activities are designed to help participants be strategic in applying for external fellowships. Program sessions will be taught by R&amp;I staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Program Outcomes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Gain a deeper understanding of the external fellowships application process,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop an external fellowship application draft, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Navigate the essential steps toward submission of an external fellowship application.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications are welcome from full-time UNL faculty who are in the early stages of developing an external fellowship application. A document (no more than two pages, 11-pt font, one-inch margins on all sides) containing<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-unl-bg-darkest-gray-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-cb6160c0a0b6acb2787bbc0fda4aa0c5\">The name of the external fellowship you are interested in pursuing. (<em>If you have questions about the specific fellowship you are targeting or if you are undecided, please reach out to <a href=\"mailto:kromey3@unl.edu\">Katie Romey<\/a>, External Recognition and Awards Coordinator, to schedule a consultation to discuss<\/em>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A summary of the vision for the proposed research, scholarship, or creative activity you will pursue as part of the external fellowship.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What you hope to gain from your experience in the Faculty External Fellowships Program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How this experience will benefit your career, department, and\/or the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. Your full curriculum vitae or resume.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please upload these materials as a <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">single PDF<\/span><\/strong> in the application portal (see <strong>Application Deadline<\/strong> below). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Selection Criteria<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There will be up to 12 participants in the cohort. The selection committee will evaluate applications based on the following criteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The applicant&#8217;s ability to clearly summarize a vision for their research, scholarship, or creative activity for which they would like to seek an external fellowship.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The applicant&#8217;s ability to articulate relevant and feasible goals for participating in the Faculty External Fellowships Program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The readiness of the applicant for the Faculty External Fellowships Program.
