{"id":55,"date":"2020-09-12T13:42:00","date_gmt":"2020-09-12T13:42:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.unl.edu\/annualreport\/2020\/?p=55"},"modified":"2020-10-26T18:09:29","modified_gmt":"2020-10-26T18:09:29","slug":"drones","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/research.unl.edu\/annualreport\/2020\/drones\/","title":{"rendered":"Drone Images Offer Remote Teaching Solution"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The College of Architecture looked to the sky for the answer when it needed a way for students to complete their final design projects in the spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instructors worked with University Communication photography director Craig Chandler to use drone technology to capture location images in an iconic alleyway between two well-known buildings in Lincoln\u2019s Historic Haymarket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Typically, students would have done an in-person site inventory and analysis before design concepts or proposals began. Instead, Chandler took videos and still pictures of the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students used the drone content to work on a threshold development project that encompassed the vertical and horizontal landscape and field conditions connecting the site\u2019s spaces and their environment in a meaningful way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis collaboration is the true definition of synergy,\u201d instructor Ernesto Sanchez Andrade said. \u201cCraig Chandler\u2019s imagery really helped elevate the content we deliver our students to the next level.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image
