We believe this is the first major athletics-research partnership of its kind. It promises to expand understanding of the brain, behavior and concussions<\/a> and enhance health and performance research<\/a>.<\/p>\n Harnessing the power of partnerships to ensure that UNL\u2019s discoveries and expertise play bigger roles in Nebraska\u2019s economy is central to plans for Nebraska Innovation Campus. Business, industry and entrepreneurs will work closely with UNL faculty and students at this private-public research campus adjacent to UNL. With the first buildings slated to open in 2014 and its first corporate partner on board, NIC is generating interest and excitement<\/a>.<\/p>\n We\u2019re making progress on many fronts. Our commitment to defense-related research was bolstered in fall 2012 when the University of Nebraska and the U.S. Strategic Command partnered to establish a University Affiliated Research Center, part of the university\u2019s National Strategic Research Institute<\/a>.<\/p>\n We\u2019re also expanding our international engagement and capitalizing on our established research strengths.
