Scott Data, Nebraska Engineering partner on new AI makerspace

A new AI makerspace, created in partnership with Omaha’s Scott Data, will give University of Nebraska–Lincoln engineering students unrivaled opportunities to explore, build, test and model new techniques using artificial intelligence. The makerspace is the latest addition to the College of Engineering’s Design Hub, which allows students to design, build and test engineering projects.

Finch using CAREER award to help students with leap to third grade

There are widely recognized points of transition during students’ K-12 careers: the jump from preschool to kindergarten, and the shift from elementary to middle school, for example. Developmental psychologist Jenna Finch is studying a less recognized, but equally pivotal, leap: the jump from second to third grade. It’s a shift with some major changes — higher behavioral expectations, high-stakes standardized testing, a switch from “learning to read” to “reading to learn,” and brand-new math concepts like fractions, multiplication and division.

Nebraska Veterinary Diagnostic Center receives governor’s award

August 14, 2025

The Nebraska Veterinary Diagnostic Center has received the Governor’s Excellence in Ag Partnership Award for its scientific excellence and support of Nebraska agricultural stakeholders. Gov. Jim Pillen presented the award at the 2025 Governor’s Summit in Kearney on Aug. 13.
