What faculty can do

Investigators must be prepared to respond quickly to new funding opportunities and just-in-time requests. Agencies are expected to use the majority of stimulus funds on proposals already in the pipeline.
  • Existing awards: To be eligible for stimulus funding, make sure all progress reports are up-to-date. PIs should ask their program officers about opportunities to supplement existing awards with ARRA funds. Be patient when contacting program officers; they are receiving calls from PIs nationwide.
  • Pending proposals: Faculty with proposals pending for new, renewal or supplemental funding also should contact their program officers to find out if their proposals are being considered for ARRA funding.
  • Recent high-quality proposals: Agencies are reviewing previously reviewed proposals that were not funded but judged to have scientific merit. Faculty whose recent grant proposals reviewed well but were not funded should consider whether their project could be completed by September 2010. If possible, prepare a two- or three-page revision of the project plan and budget so all of the work can be completed by September 2010.
  • Stay informed: ARRA funding opportunities will be posted on this site as they become available. Check this site often and keep up with the weekly UNL Funding Announcements.
