Call for Nebraska Lecture nominations

The UNL Research Council is soliciting nominations for the 2009 Nebraska Lectures: Chancellor's Distinguished Lecture Series.

The Nebraska Lectures are high-profile public events and represent the highest recognition the Research Council bestows on an individual faculty member. The Research Council established this lecture series in 2003 in collaboration with the Office of Research and the Office of the Chancellor.

The Nebraska Lectures celebrate significant faculty accomplishments and are designed to foster communication among students and faculty in different academic disciplines. They present topics of public interest or scientific and artistic discoveries in a non-technical format that attracts a wide audience, including the local community and public officials.

Selection criteria are: major recent accomplishments that support a distinguished record and an ability to communicate with a multidisciplinary audience.

The deadline for nominations is May 30. To submit a nomination, please e-mail a short CV that includes significant scholarly publications during the past five years and major university or national awards to Peg Filliez in the Office of Research at pfilliez1@unl.edu. Nominations are kept confidential. The Research Council and the vice chancellor for research and economic development select the lecturers.
