UNL team heading to BIO


BIO International Convention

More than 25 Nebraska scientists, university leaders, policymakers and economic development experts will head to Boston for the 2007 BIO International Convention May 6-9 to demonstrate Nebraska technology, research and development for 20,000 visitors.

The Nebraska contingent will be led by the Bio Nebraska Life Sciences Association and includes representatives from UNL, the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Lincoln and Omaha chambers of commerce, Omaha Public Power District, Nebraska Department of Economic Development and University of Nebraska Technology Park.

The Bio Nebraska pavilion will showcase Nebraska's biotechnology enterprise to the world's largest gathering of biotech executives, investors, journalists, policymakers and scientists from more than 60 countries. Representatives from the Office of Research, the Office of Technology Development, NU Technology Park and University Communications will help staff the pavilion.

Among the research the UNL delegation will highlight is work by Ravi Saraf, professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering, to develop a highly sensitive nanoscale touch sensor that could aid surgeons and his discovery of a "necklace" of gold nanoparticles with potential bioelectronics applications.
