Nebraska Center for Energy Sciences Research grants

The Nebraska Center for Energy Sciences Research recently awarded its sixth round of competitive grants for energy research projects. NCESR supports energy sciences research and education and encourages collaboration among UNL faculty and other organizations and businesses.

The center, established in 2006 through a partnership between UNL and the Nebraska Public Power District, supports promising research on renewable energy sources, conservation and efficiency and fosters economic opportunities for Nebraska. Recent awards are listed here by title, investigator(s) and department or unit:

  • Highly Efficient and Durable Catalysts for Fuel Cell Applications, Jian Zhang, chemistry.
  • Enhanced Hydrogen Electrolysis and Heat Transfer Using Micro/Nano Structured Surfaces, Dennis Alexander, electrical engineering.
  • Intelligent Demand Prediction and Operation Optimization for Cost‐effective Campus Cooling, Jeonghan Ko, industrial and management systems engineering.
  • Carbon Nanotube Coating on Copper Transmission Coils for Wireless Vehicle Charging, Yongfeng Lu, electrical engineering.
  • Color Indicated Rapid Carbon Capture in Metal‐Organic Frameworks, Li Tan, mechanical and materials engineering.
