NSF policies and procedures updateAn updated version of NSF's Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide, NSF 09-29, takes effect this week. The update includes a substantive revision regarding NSF's implementation of the postdoctoral mentoring plan required by the America COMPETES Act. Effective April 6, each NSF proposal that requests funding to support postdoctoral researchers must include - as a separate supplementary document - a description of the mentoring activities that will be provided for such individuals. The mentoring plan is limited to one page. It must describe the mentoring that will be provided to all postdoctoral researchers supported by the project, regardless of whether the postdoc is employed at the submitting organization, a subawardee organization, or an organization participating in a simultaneously submitted collaborative project. Postdoctoral mentoring plans will be evaluated during the merit review process using NSF's Broader Impacts criteria. Proposals that do not include a postdoctoral mentoring plan as a separate supplementary document will be returned without review. For more information contact Nathan Meier, proposal development manager, nmeier2@unl.edu, 472-1808. |
