Working with industry, foundations panelsWorking with industry and private foundations can enhance research success. Two Research Fair panel discussions will offer tips and insights for building foundation and industry relationships. "Private Foundations: Philanthropy, Research and Partnerships with Academic Institutions," featuring Pam Baker, executive director of the Woods Charitable Fund, and Brian Wilcox, senior program officer for the William T. Grant Foundation, kicks off Research Fair presentations at 9 a.m. April 14. Ryan Anderson, director of foundation and corporate relations in the Office of Research will moderate. Eric Buchanan, director of corporate and foundation relations, and Liz Lange, director of foundation relations, both with the University of Nebraska Foundation, will facilitate a question-and-answer session. On April 16, industry and USDA representatives will explore "Working with Industry" in a panel discussion at 9 a.m. Panelists include Brad Roth, director of business development, biotechnology for LI-COR Biosciences; Gordon Smith, vice president of research, quality and innovation for ConAgra Foods, and Siva Sureshwaran, national program leader of the USDA's Small Business Innovation Research program. Anderson and David Conrad, UNL associate vice chancellor for technology development, will discuss resources at UNL to help facilitate industry partnerships and introduce UNL faculty and staff whose duties support industry relations. |
