Information to enhance your success at UNL | UNL Office of Research | April 2009
New IACP site, policy manualA revamped Web site and policy manual for UNL's Institutional Animal Care Program and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee provide easy-to-find information about the proper use of animals in research. New Web content includes a frequently-asked-questions section and an interactive flow chart that explains animal use protocols. The site also includes updated forms, policies and guidelines, and online training resources. Researchers also are encouraged to use the Office of Research Responsibility Web site to learn how to use NUgrant for preparing and submitting applications, and modifying requests and other forms that must be completed before initiating animal use. An updated version of the Policies and Procedures Manual for Use of Animals at UNL is available to assist faculty, students and staff in the proper use of animals in research, teaching and extension programs. These programs must comply with federal regulations and published guides for the use of laboratory and agricultural animals, wildlife and fish. Hard copies of the manual are available upon request. Contact IACP if you have questions concerning interpretation of the material. For more information contact Don Beermann, director, Institutional Animal Care Program, dbeermann2@unl.edu, 472-4430. |
