Conference highlights economics of water

The economics of water is the focus of UNL's sixth annual Water Law, Policy and Science Conference. "Blue Gold: When Water Meets Money" is the theme of the April 29-30 event at Lincoln's Embassy Suites.

Local and national experts will address water quantity and quality issues, climate change and its economic impact on water, markets for water leasing and ecosystem services, and innovations in irrigation technology. The conference also will feature sessions on the basics of water law and management geared toward attorneys and professionals new to water law. Several UNL faculty are among the speakers and panelists.

Conference information, program and registration are available at the conference Web site or from Jacki Loomis, School of Natural Resources, jloomis3@unl.edu, 472-7550. The conference is sponsored by the Office of Research, Water Resources Research Initiative, Water Center, Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources, School of Natural Resources and College of Journalism and Mass Communications.
