Data Collection and Management

As of April 14, 2003 the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) includes a privacy rule that applies to any health care entity engaged in disclosure of protected health information (PHI). UNL faculty and staff conducting human subjects research using identifiable health information must be managed in compliance with HIPAA privacy regulations.
