2008 Graduate Student Poster Session

Office of Research and Graduate Studies
Nebraska Chapter of Sigma Xi
Nebraska Union
April 2, 2008

A celebration highlighting graduate student research and creative activity will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at the Nebraska Union as part of the 2008 UNL Research Fair. The purpose of the session is to give students the chance to showcase their research or creative activity, to communicate their results to others and to learn about other areas of research and creative activity.

Basis for posters

Entries should be based on research or creative activity in which the graduate student has been significantly involved during the past year. Standards of the entries are expected to be at the level that is common at national meetings in each of the disciplines. Quality of entries will be evaluated on how well ideas are presented to a general disciplinary audience. See sample evaluation forms.

Poster size

Maximum poster size is 40 inches wide by 48 inches long. Posters should NOT be mounted on poster board or foam core. (A limited number of easels will be available for mounted posters.) If your discipline requires a different size poster for national meetings, please indicate this on the registration form and we will provide you with appropriate space. Also check out our tips for effective poster development.

Poster printing costs

For students who do not have departmental support of the printing costs of the posters, the Research Fair has set up a special fund with the Instructional Design Center in Henzlik Hall to cover the cost of printing your poster. Posters must be submitted no later than 5:00 pm on Monday, March 24th and may not exceed 40" x 48" to be eligible for the printing fee waiver. Please check the appropriate box on the registration form to be considered for this support.

Registration

The registration deadline is 3:00 PM on Friday, March 14th.

Late registrations are still being accepted, but students registering after the deadline will not be included in the booklet.
