Office of Research and Graduate Studies

Also Sponsored by:
Office of the Chancellor, Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, and the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources

Purpose:
To bring UNL faculty from diverse disciplines together to share expertise and develop strategies for achieving successful outcomes in:
  • Pursuit of one or more major externally-funded initiatives in energy research.
  • Increasing the enrollment of underrepresented graduate students.

Background:
At last year's inaugural faculty interdisciplinary retreat, energy science was identified as a suggested theme for this year's retreat because of the growing importance of renewable energy to Nebraska's economy, increased funding opportunities for energy-related research and education, and the interdisciplinary nature of energy science.

To achieve our research goals, it is critical to increase the enrollment of underrepresented graduate students. This part of the retreat will focus on better understanding this need and on identifying successful planning and recruitment techniques.

Focus Areas:
Energy Sciences Research
Recruiting Graduate Students Belonging to Underrepresented Groups
