This half-day workshop, followed by lunch, will cover topics such as:
- How to determine where your research fits at DoD,
- How to identify and talk with a program officer, and
- How to write a quad chart or white paper.
Discussion will include an overview of the various DoD research offices, DoD culture and terminology, and special considerations and requirements for writing a proposal to a DoD research office. An overview of DoD's young investigator programs will also be provided. The workshop will conclude with a two-hour hands-on session designed to assist researchers find where their research fits at DoD.
The workshop will be presented by proposal development expert Ms. Lucy Deckard of Academic Research Funding Strategies, LLC. Ms. Deckard is the former Associate Director of Texas A&M's Office of Proposal Development. Prior to entering the proposal development field, Ms. Deckard worked as a research engineer in industry for 16 years. Her research was supported by funding from the DoD and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
The workshop will be held on Wednesday, October 3, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Nebraska Union (Heritage Room).
