Research Council - Symposia/Distinguished Lecturers
The Research Council annually supports outstanding invited scholars who will give symposia or colloquia that should be of interest to a large interdisciplinary segment of the university community. The program must include at least one lecture that is open, free-of-charge and advertised to the entire University community. Funds for travel and local expenses for featured speakers will be made available. An award of up to $3,000 is made for the Montgomery Lectureship each year. The Montgomery Lectureship seeks to bring to the University eminent authorities who will discuss topics of current interest to the faculty, students and the public. The Research Council also provides the Tom Osborne Visiting Scholar Award (up to $500), which will be used to provide an honorarium to a distinguished scholar with wide appeal to the University. Applicants are encouraged to use good judgment in requests for honorarium funds. Any exceptional expenses or honoraria must be strongly justified.
The new application form, which features electronic approval and routing, is accessible through NUgrant under the Apply heading on the Research Council home page. Applications must be submitted through NUgrant; paper applications will no longer be accepted.
